They achieve this goal by providing the resources necessary for business success, economic vitality and a sustained quality of life in our community. Small Business Center

The Small Business Center Network, comprised of 58 Small Business Centers throughout North Carolina, supports the development of new businesses and the growth of existing businesses by being a community-based provider of training, counseling, and resource information.

Small Business Centers provide free, confidential counseling services for new and existing businesses. Call 828-627-4512 for an appointment.

Our community gets its name from Maggie Mae Setzer. Her father, John "Jack" Sidney Setzer founded the area's first post office and it was named after one of his daughters. Each summer, Setzer descendants come from all over the country for a large family reunion in the historic valley.
