Maggie Valley Fire Department

Maggie Valley Fire & Rescue (MVF&R) has been providing the community with excellent fire protection since 1959. The agency, officially classified as a volunteer fire department, provides twenty-four hour fire coverage and carries a 4/5 ISO fire insurance rating. Those living inside the Town’s corporate limits are a rate 4, while those living outside the Town limits but still within the service boundary of MVF&R enjoy a 5 rating.

Services offered by Maggie Valley Fire & Rescue include fire, medical, rescue and hazardous material assistance. MVF&R also issues all burning permits for the Maggie Valley community.  You may also get a burn permit online here: http://www.ncforestservice.gov/burn_permits/burn_standard.asp

Our community gets its name from Maggie Mae Setzer. Her father, John "Jack" Sidney Setzer founded the area's first post office and it was named after one of his daughters. Each summer, Setzer descendants come from all over the country for a large family reunion in the historic valley.
