The Town of Maggie Valley is now hiring! The Town of Maggie Valley is currently accepting applications for a Finance Director The Town of Maggie Valley is seeking a technology savvy individual with strong interpersonal skills and financial competency to be our new Finance Director. Working as a key member of the Town’s leadership team, the Finance Director must be able to effectively manage the financial resources of the Town. Overseeing an annual operating budget exceeding four million, the Finance Director is responsible for accounting, debt administration, cash management, payroll, purchasing, and tax collection, as well as overseeing a $7+ million investment portfolio and a fund balance approaching 140%. Planning Board Vacancy Public Take Notice: Looking at the beginning of 2024, the town is looking at being proactive rather than reactive in the event of any future vacancies on the Planning Board and/or Zoning Board of Adjustments. All applications will be held for one year. Therefore, the Maggie Valley Board of Aldermen are seeking applications for nomination to the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Adjustments. The Planning Board generally meets once a month on the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30pm. The Zoning Board of Adjustments meets when there is a case to be heard, on the third Thursday of the month at 5:30pm. Maggie Valley Town Hall Offices will be closed on Monday January 15, 2024 in observation of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We will reopen on Tuesday morning at 8am. Garbage and recycle pick-up will run on the regular schedule. Please put your brown trash toter out on Monday by 7am and the blue recycle toter out on Tuesday by 7am.

Town Hall Offices will be closing Friday, December 22nd at 12:00pm. We will also be closed Monday December 25th and Tuesday December 26th for the Christmas Holiday! Please note* Garbage and Recycle Services will be delayed by one day both weeks! Tuesday December 26th will be garbage pick up Wednesday December 27th will be recycle pick up Our offices will also be closed on Monday, January 1st, to celebrate New Year’s Day! Tuesday January 2nd will be garbage pick up Wednesday January 3rd will be recycle pick up Place your toters out at the curb by 7am! We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Town Hall offices will be closed on Thursday, November 23rd and Friday, November 24th for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving! Offices will re-open on Monday, November 27th. Curbside Trash and Recycle Services Schedule will remain as usual: *Place your bagged household garbage in the brown trash toter and place it out on the curb by 7am on Monday. Clean, loose mixed recyclables (no bags) should be placed in the blue recycle toter and be out by 7am on Tuesday.
Town Offices will be closed on Friday, November 10th in honor of Veterans Day. We thank all Veterans! Our Drop Box for tax payments will be available on the east side of Town Hall. Please include your email address on the envelope if you’d like a receipt. Offices will re-open at 8am on Monday.
Town Offices will be open on regular schedule on Columbus Day, Monday, October 9th. Trash service will run on regular schedule on Monday. Tax payments will be accepted inside Town Hall, through our Drop Box location, plus online through the website (online payments incur additional fees.) Pay by Mail: You can always make a check payable to the Town of Maggie Valley and pay by mail. Please include the bottom portion of your tax bill and write your parcel identification number in the memo field of your check. We accept postmark as date received for tax payments. If you would like to receive a receipt, include your email address or a stamped self-addressed envelope.
The next election will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, for the Town of Waynesville, Town of Maggie Valley, Town of Canton, and the Town of Clyde. Only residents within the town limits of Waynesville, Maggie Valley, Canton, and Clyde are eligible to vote. Photo ID is required for voting. In-person, Early Voting will begin on Thursday, October 19 and end on Saturday, November 4. Early voting will be held at the Senior Resource Center at 81 Elmwood Way, Waynesville NC. If you do not vote during the Early Voting period, you will need to go to your assigned precinct on Tuesday, November 7. If you are not registered to vote in Haywood County, you need to do so by October 13, 2023. Check out all election details here!

Our community gets its name from Maggie Mae Setzer. Her father, John “Jack” Sidney Setzer founded the area’s first post office and it was named after one of his daughters. Each summer, Setzer descendants come from all over the country for a large family reunion in the historic valley.
