Backyard Fourth in Maggie Valley!

Celebrate July Fourth in Maggie Valley! Free Admission!  Enjoy Backyard Fourth at the Maggie Valley Festival Grounds at 3374 Soco Road!  Bring your own blanket, chairs, picnic baskets and yard games for a fun throwback style Fourth of July in Maggie Valley.  Gates will open at 6pm.  No Pets or Personal Fireworks Please.  Hot dogs, chips & drinks will be available.  Come join in the fun and enjoy our great fireworks show at dark!  Town Hall Offices will be closed on Wednesday, July 4th and will re-open at 8am on Thursday.  Have a safe and happy holiday!

New Playground Coming to Town Hall Park!

New Playground Coming! The Town Hall Park Playground will be under construction during the next few weeks.  We are looking forward to a brand new Playground Set for this Park!  During the construction phase, the swings, basketball court, horseshoe pits, walking path, picnic shelter and grill will still be available for public use.  Thank you for your patience and we look forward to this upgrade for Town Hall Park!  🙂

Clerk receives Prestigious Designation

Vickie Best, Town Clerk of Maggie Valley, has received the prestigious designation of North Carolina Certified Municipal Clerk … for achieving its high educational, experience and service requirements.  Best attained her designation through the completion of the N.C. Association of Municipal Clerks (NCAMC) program, conducted in cooperation with the School of Government at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.  As an established member of the NCAMC, Best joins the 2018 class of municipal clerks from North Carolina who are receiving this state designation.  Established on November 5, 1975, the association promotes educational and professional development opportunities for municipal clerks to enhance their knowledge and effectiveness.  The association partners with the North Carolina League of Municipalities, the School of Government at UNC Chapel Hill and the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) to meet the needs of each individual municipal clerk.  The North Carolina Certified Municipal Clerk program is a five-year designation with requirements for continuing education to sustain and develop the ever-changing knowledge of the profession of municipal clerks.

Proposed fiscal year 2018/2019 budget

Public Take Notice: The proposed fiscal year 2018/2019 budget for the Town of Maggie Valley has been presented to the Board of Aldermen and is available for public inspection in the office of the Clerk at the Town Hall from 8am to 5pm weekdays.  To view the Proposed FY 2018/19 Budget Presentation click here.  To view the Proposed FY 2018/19 Budget click here.  To view the Proposed FY 2018/19 Fee Schedules click here for Proposed Sewer Fees and here for Proposed Planning Zoning and Sign Fees.   The Maggie Valley Board of Aldermen will hold a public hearing on the proposed budget on June 12, 2018 at 6:30pm at the Town Hall, for the purpose of receiving comments on the proposed budget. Persons wishing to be heard are invited to make written or oral comments.

Applications for Appointments

The Maggie Valley Board of Aldermen is now taking applications for appointments …for both the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Adjustment, from both Maggie Valley residents and residents within the Extra Territorial Jurisdiction (ETJ).  Each Board normally meets one time per month: Planning Board at 5:30pm on the second Thursday of the month, Zoning Board of Adjustment meets the third Thursday of the month at 5:30pm.  Click here for descriptions of the two Boards and to print the Application for Nomination to either.
