Proposed Fiscal Year 2019/2020 Budget

Public Take Notice: The Proposed Fiscal Year 2019/2020 Budget for the Town of Maggie Valley has been presented to the Board of Aldermen and is available for public inspection in the office of the Clerk at the Town Hall from 8am to 5pm weekdays.  To view the Proposed FY 2019/20 Budget Presentation click here.  To view the Proposed FY 2019/20 Budget click here.  To view the Proposed FY 2019/20 Fee Schedules click here for Proposed Sewer and Solid Waste Fees and here for Proposed Planning Zoning and Sign Fees.   The Maggie Valley Board of Aldermen will hold a public hearing on the Proposed Budget on June 11, 2019 at 6:30pm at the Town Hall, for the purpose of receiving comments on the proposed budget. Spring Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event Sunday May, 26, 2019

Spring Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event Sunday May, 26, 2019 The Haywood County Solid Waste Department will be holding a spring Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event on Sunday, May 26th from 9am until 4pm at the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) located at 278 Recycle Rd, Clyde. During this event, Haywood County residents are encouraged to drop off these household pollutants free of charge. Haywood County has partnered with EcoFLo who will have representatives on hand to collect the following non pesticide items: Aerosols Latex paint in cans Mixed solvents Propane tanks (grill and camp size only please) Metallic Mercury Mercury debris Alkaline cleaners Acid cleaners Paint related materials Fire extinguishers Small cylinders Items that are regularly collected at the Material Recovery Center can also be brought to this event.  They include: Lead acid batteries Alkaline batteries NiCad batteries Lithium batteries Fluorescent bulbs (tubes and compacts) There will be another collection day on May 9th at the NC Extension office located on Raccoon Road Waynesville to accept only pesticides.  Medications and pharmaceutical can be disposed of at year around collection sites located at each of the Police Departments and Sheriff’s Office. “This event is a great and free way to dispose of these materials’” stated Haywood County Recycling Coordinator, Zondra Kuykendall.  “If you have an item and are unsure if EcoFlo can accept it, please call our office at (828) 356-2138 before the event so we can verify”, she continued. “If they don’t collect the material, maybe we can help find a solution.” This event is only for Haywood County residents. Please don’t bring or drop-off items prior to the event.

Have a valid Social Security number. Be a U.S. citizen. Have a valid email address. Complete an application and answer assessment questions. (Some assessment questions are available in Spanish. However, an English proficiency test may also be required.) Be registered with the Selective Service System or have a qualifying exemption, if you are a male born after Dec. 31, 1959. Pass a Census-performed criminal background check and a review of criminal records, including fingerprinting. Commit to completing training. Be available to work flexible hours, which can include days, evenings, and/or weekends. Most jobs require employees to: Have access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license, unless public transportation is readily available. Have access to a computer with internet and an email account (to complete training). This position performs intermediate protective service work enforcing laws, investigating criminal activity, ensuring safety of public, collecting evidence, testifying in court, maintaining files and records, preparing reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. Applicants must have a valid N.C. Driver’s License, High School Diploma or GED and a Basic Law Enforcement Training Certification. Presidents’ Day 2019 Schedule

Presidents’ Day 2019 Monday, February 18th, 2019 – We wish you a safe and happy Presidents’ Day on Monday!  The Town of Maggie Valley will have all offices and our Town Services running on the regular schedule.  Town Hall will be open 8am to 5pm.  Trash pick-up will be from 7am until 5pm on Monday and Recycle pick-up from 7am to 5pm on Tuesday, as usual.

*PLEASE NOTE* SKATING WILL BE CLOSED TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 12 DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER.   February 8 – 17 Ice Skating at the Festival Grounds! Monday-Friday from 4 – 8pm, Saturday & Sunday from noon – 8pm, Adults $8 and Kids $5 Sessions are 45 minutes on the hour with skates included, the last session will be at 7pm, there is a limit of 40 skaters per session and skating is first-come/first serve! * Kids Skate Free on Monday, February 11th! *Special Family Skate for $20 on Wednesday, February 13th! A Concession Stand will be available along with a 9 Hole Mini Golf Course, Yard Games including Ladder Ball, Giant Connect 4, Giant Jenga, Pipe Ball, Bottle Ring Toss and Can Toss, plus a Bounce House!

Maggie Valley ABC Store Closing for Renovations

The Maggie Valley ABC Store at 3931 Soco Road will be closing on January 26th for renovations.  The store will re-open April 1st, after the re-model. The Dellwood ABC Store at 2721 Dellwood Road will be open on regular schedule.

Martin Luther King Jr Holiday Schedule

Maggie Valley Town Hall Offices will be closed on Monday January 21, 2019 in observation of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  We will reopen Tuesday morning at 8am. Garbage and recycle pick-up will run on the regular schedule.  Please put your brown trash toter out on Monday by 7am and the blue recycle toter out on Tuesday by 7am.

Christmas and New Year’s Holiday Schedule

Town Hall offices will be closed Friday, December 21st through Tuesday, December 25th.  Our offices will also be closed on Tuesday, January 1st.  We wish everyone a safe and happy Holiday! Garbage and Recycle Services Schedule:  *Place your bagged household garbage in the brown trash toter and place it out on the curb by 7am as usual on Monday, Christmas Eve and also Monday, New Year’s Eve. There will be NO Tuesday service either week. Clean, loose mixed recyclables (no bags) should be placed in the blue recycle toter and be out by 7am on Wednesday, December 26th and Wednesday, January 2nd.
